Abbotsford Convent Open Day

Sunday 7 November
10am – 4pm

Visit Phoebe Porter and Katheryn Leopoldseder at Studio MG1 during the annual Abbotsford Convent Open Day.

The Abbotsford Convent precinct is the only remaining intact 19th century rural landscape in inner Melbourne. It is also one of the last surviving ex-monastic complexes in the world located close to a major city.

The Abbotsford Convent is being rejuvenated as an arts, cultural and learning precinct. Currently, the Convent houses over 100 small businesses and creative practitioners, with the Mercator Studios (home of Studio MG1) being one of its several distinct precincts. It is a work in progress that is evolving at a rate that has surpassed even the most optimistic predictions. An iconic arts and major cultural attraction, the Convent buildings and their heritage significance are now protected and being revived so they will exist as spaces for everyone now and for future generations.

Come and check it all out during the annual Open Day where everything across the site is open for the public to explore…
